The Books of Ye is the first ever conceptual art NFT.
It is the sequel to The Book of Yeezus, a coffee-table print of Genesis exploring modern religiosity, in which each instance of God was replaced with Kanye. The Book of Yeezus was a 2015 viral internet phenomenon, covered in many languages and sold worldwide by the thousands.
The Books of Ye is best viewed as something meta: a commentary on the hype dynamics that brought The Book of Yeezus to fame, and the consequences to power those dynamics bring. Its gospel is simple: Those who make believe make reality.
The Books of Ye consists of five NFTs corresponding to the five Book of Moses, each exquisitely crafted by an anonymous collective of over a dozen award-winning 2D, 3D, and audio artists and programmers (whose past clients include Prada, Adidas, Dior, NASA…). With the help of an original foreword, the books prompt reflection on these themes.
In anticipation of the launch of the Books, the team has also produced 1,000 Cards depicting notable scenes in the Books. These are being released in a series of five sales of 200 Cards beginning February 28th.
These first 200 cards will be sold for 0.2ETH.
